COVID-19 UPDATE!
As of 04/13/2020 Kankakee County has 220 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There have been 7 new cases since our last update. Here is the information we can release about our most recent cases:

Case 215. Male in his 80s
Case 216. Female in her 30s
Case 217. Male in his 40s
Case 218. Female in her 30s
Case 219. Female in her 20s
Case 220. Male in his 30s

Kankakee County now has 11 COVID-19 related deaths. Our deepest sympathies are with the families.

Kankakee County also has 33 recoveries.

Positive cases are county wide. We encourage you to continue taking precautions and practicing social distancing.

Our Communicable Disease nurses are working tirelessly to follow up with contact investigation and to notify anyone confirmed cases may have had contact with. Continue to follow our social media and website for daily updates. Moving forward, we will only be doing one update at 3pm every day.

Today the Governor announced an emergency expansion of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act that was approved this morning by the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission

First responders and front line workers that are injured or suffer periods of incapacity from exposure to COVID-19 during a COVID-19 state of emergency will be entitled to rebuttable presumptions in contested hearings that the injury or incapacity arose out of and in the course of their employment, and were causally connected to the hazards or exposures of that employment.
