Notice of Initiation of the Section 106 Process-Public Participation in accordance with the FCC's Program Comment for Positive Train Control and Infrastructure. Union Pacific proposes to construct a monopole communications pole with associated equipment at the following approximate location south of Grant Park, within the existing right-of-way.
Coordinates: 41.2255, -87.6442: Mile Post #45.75 (Approximately 62' in overall height)
Union Pacific Railroad must comply with all Federal and State regulations governing the proposed facility. Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, requires Union Pacific Railroad to evaluate this project for any effect it may have on Historic Properties. As part off this evaluation, Union Pacific Railroad is required to publish Public Notice in an effort to gather comments on the potential effects of the proposed facility on Historic Properties.
This was in the Kankakee Journal on March 30, 2017 and GSS will accept comments on the potential effects of the proposed facility on Historic Properties from other relevant individuals or groups.
Parties interested in submitting comments regarding any potential effects of the proposed facility on Historic Properties may do so by sending them to GSS, Inc, 3311 109th St. Urbandale, Ia 50322.
All applicable zoning and permits are handled by the railroad. Any correspondence should be in regard to the Section 106 Review Process only to aid in identifying any potential historic properties that may be affected by the proposed undertaking.
